1. Prepare the Following Information Before Customization
Can Shape: You can use the existing 200×135×280mm lucky cat mold shown in the image, saving the high cost of mold development. If you need to change the size or shape, a new mold will be required.
Material: Food-grade tinplate with a food-grade inner coating, suitable for direct contact with candies and biscuits and compliant with food packaging requirements.
Exterior Printing: Provide AI/PDF vector artwork; patterns, logos, and brand text can be modified. Options include four-color printing and spot-color printing, as well as embossing, hot stamping, matte/gloss varnish, and other finishes.
Internal Accessories: Blister trays and dividers can be added as needed to secure candies and pastries.
Order Quantity: The regular MOQ for stock-shape irregular tin boxes is mostly 2,000–3,000 units; the larger the quantity, the lower the unit price.
2. Complete Customization Process
Requirement Communication + Quotation: Send the size, usage, quantity, and design artwork to the tin box manufacturer, confirm whether the existing lucky cat mold will be used, and obtain a quotation.
Design Artwork and Sampling: The factory provides a die-line drawing for color and pattern confirmation; samples are made (white samples for structure, color samples for printing effect) to confirm color, size, and opening/closing.
Sample Confirmation and Mass Production Order: After the sample is approved, sign the contract and pay the deposit; the factory arranges tin printing, stamping, seaming, and assembly.
Quality Inspection and Shipment: After mass production is completed, inspect appearance and sealing performance, then pack and ship.
3. Key Points to Note
Mold Cost: If the existing lucky cat mold is not used, a brand-new irregular mold costs more and takes longer to develop, making it suitable for large orders.
Lead Time: Stock-mold color printing customization generally takes 25–35 days; new mold development requires an additional 15–30 days.
Food Packaging: Be sure to confirm that the manufacturer provides food-contact-related testing and that the inner coating is safe for packaging candies and snacks.
Sampling Fee: Color samples usually incur a sampling fee, which many factories can deduct after a mass production order is placed.
4. Comparison of Two Customization Options
Option A (Recommended): Existing lucky cat mold + modified printing patterns—low cost and short lead time, suitable for candy gift boxes and holiday gifts.
Option B: Brand-new mold development—fully original shape possible, but higher cost and higher MOQ, suitable for long-term fixed brand packaging.
