Modern cosmetics refer to preparations applied to the human body for the purpose of beautifying, preserving, or altering appearance (for example, for performance), or for cleansing, dyeing, wiping, correcting, or protecting the skin, hair, nails, eyes, or teeth (excluding soap). Today, women are the main consumers in the cosmetics market. They have distinctive views on beauty, a strong sense of self-awareness, and delicate emotions. How to design cosmetic product packaging based on these psychological characteristics—satisfying their sense of beauty, superiority, and vanity—so as to increase cosmetic sales is therefore an important issue for cosmetics manufacturers. Enhancing the tastefulness of cosmetic packaging is thus quite important. Since consumers' aesthetic demands vary widely, cosmetic packaging must meet the aesthetic requirements of different consumers. Therefore, the design of cosmetic tin box packaging should pay attention to the following aspects.

1. Age and Color

People of different age groups perceive colors differently. As age increases, people's color preferences change considerably. Research shows that as children grow into adults, their favorite colors shift from warm tones to cool tones. Accordingly, children's skincare product packaging generally uses warm colors such as red, yellow, and green, while adult cosmetic packaging can break away from traditional colors and mostly adopts fashionable colors to keep up with the trends of the times.

2. Color and Gender

Consumers of different genders have different emotional responses to color. For the same cosmetic product of the same brand, the outer packaging may use different colors depending on the gender of the consumer. For example, men's skincare products may use black outer packaging, while the brand's women's cosmetics use a relatively light and elegant white. Generally speaking, men's skincare packaging mostly uses cool colors of higher purity, such as gray and black, while women's skincare packaging tends to favor white colors of lower purity, such as pink and white. In addition, women are more easily influenced by color, while men are more governed by reason. Therefore, women's cosmetic packaging should place greater emphasis on the use of color. Packaging with appropriate colors will exert a strong attraction on female consumers and prompt them to purchase.

3. Color and Region

Because regional customs and habits differ, people are influenced by different external factors, and the meanings expressed by colors also vary. In cosmetic packaging design, care should be taken to avoid using colors that are taboo in the local region.
